Debris basins and flood control · Sample report
Know how full every basin is before the rains. Not after.
Pick one basin. We'll tell you how full it is, free, before December.
“approximately 1500 truckloads or 15 000 cubic yards of materials that got this Basin back to empty”
“we also aim to finish this routine maintenance uh typically by December in in advance of the rainy season”

01The problem
Inspections run in March and April and cleanout has to be done by December, so the timeline is tight. Money is tight too. Knowing which basin is truly full decides where the trucks go first.
02What you get
- 01A one-basin "% full" check before the rains. We compare the current surface to the as-built or design surface.
- 02You get percent of design capacity used, sediment in cubic yards, a capacity curve and a flag (OK, WATCH, CLEAN OUT or FULL).
- 03Send us the as-built surface and a current surface, or tell us the basin and we'll scope a small flight.
03How close the tool gets
On the test site, % full came within 0.15 points of the known answer, sediment within about 2% and design capacity within 0.1%.
Checked on test sites where the true answer was known. Not a promise for your site.
04When you need more
A district board for all basins, surveyed before and after storm season, plus storm-event re-flights. Optional sealed sediment volumes for grant or FEMA files through a PLS/PE partner.
- The 25% cleanout trigger and watch levels in the sample are illustrative defaults. Your district's own policy rules.
- Vegetation and standing water bias the surface. Water-filled basins need a bathymetric add-on.
